Vahanalytics Tech-Driven startup

Vahanalytics a Mumbai based Tech-driven startup which aims to make Indian roads safer by analyzing the behaviour of Indians, has raised $200k in its seed funding round from Venture Catalyst. This round was led by Anirudh Damani partner at Artha India Ventures and Vikram Lakhotia MD at Standard Transport Corporation. The funds will be utilized to upgrade servers and to hire talents.

It was founded in 2016 by Shivalik Sen, Nikhil Tavora, Arun Gandhi and Someshwar Dash. Currently it is in closed beta stage and is run by Urbtanz Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Their aim is to address the problem of on-road transportation efficiency, make drivers, on a local scale, machine learning and roads better through smarter data. They had earlier founded Driven, a startup which provides on-demand chauffeurs recently which was sold to DriverKart.

Vahanalytics captures real time data about road conditions and driving habits, collect information on drivers and identify bad drivers among the good through scientific analysis using smartphones which in further refined and processed by the power of big data to extract useful insights.

Shivalik Sen Co-founder of Vahanalytics said,

“We started out as an on-demand driver service, but soon realised that there was a distinct lack of a similar scientific metric to quantify and judge driving behaviour as well as to identify and train drivers. Our analytical tool could have a number of use-cases across industries such as transportation, logistics and insurance.”

Currently the startup is providing services to cab aggregators, logistics and on-demand companies and helping the company to track drivers. It further check drivers behavior and provide ways to improve and lower the maintenance cost. The major roadblocks the startup will face are network connectivity and hardware quality. Not all roads have internet and cell phone connectivity.
