The Indian Iris raised Angel Funding

A policy research and consulting startup, The Indian Iris has raised an undisclosed amount in Angel Funding from Timbru Ventures based in Ahmedabad. It plans to utilize the funds to hire more employees, to scale up its operations, to improve its user interface, marketing and building its mobile platform, Join R.

It was founded in 2015 by Narayan Singh Rao an IIM Ahmedabad & IIT Roorkee alumnus and Sahitya Sindhu an IIT Bombay alumnus. It provides access to all schemes and policies of the state and the cenral government in simple language. To allow citizens to understand the schemes better it provides documents and decodes them in easy language.

It has an android app, Join R.  Currently it scales upto 6,50,000 villages across the country and allows the citizens to join the community. Currently with 145,000 views per month it claims to have more than 30k visitors on its portal. Users post queries on daily basis on the portal related to schemes & policies, and further asking for advice how to avail the benefits.

Sahitya Sandhu Co-founder of The Indian Iris said

“We started with the thought that all governments, center or state, formulate some policies and schemes for the welfare of businesses or for their citizens. However, many times the information is not easily available, searchable and easily understood by common citizens, depriving them from availing benefits. There are language barriers too. That’s where The Indian Iris aspires to play a major role.”
