Rebright Partners and Facebook’s early Investors invested $1.2 million in DocsApp

DocsApp a bangalore based mobile- only medical consultation platform has rasied $1.2 million in seed funding from Anand Rajaraman and Venky harinarayan Angel Investors of Facebook, and Rebright Partners a Japenese Venture Capital. Rebright partners and Takeshi Ebihara were also part of the investment round.

Founding General Partner of Rebright Partners said, “The team has a great understanding of the healthcare space and it is a scalable business model that can service millions of patients across India and South­East Asia.”

DocsApp was founded in 2015 by Satish Kannan and Enbasekar D. It is an online app which helps connect Doctors with patients. The patients can chat with doctors with an estimated turnaround time of 30 minutes, and can even share pictures and reports with the doctors.

Presently Docsapp users are from Delhi- NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The funds will be utilised Expand their operations, technology development and talent recruitment.

DocsApp works on a revenue sharing model with their doctor partners and take a percentage on each transaction. End users can pay through their credit, debit cards or even deduct the amount from their mobile balance. Talking about the need for DocsApp, Satish (CEO), said,

Satish Kannan, co-founder and CEO of DocsApp said

“that with close to 200 Mn smartphone users and the increasing mobile penetration into rural areas, it is convenient to provide high quality primary healthcare services to people across India. It’s estimated that up to 70% of the commonest health issues people face can be managed online for which the patient doesn’t need to travel to doctors. We want to bridge the gap between patients and doctors through this platform so that people can get expert consultation on demand.”

The startup claims to have 80k app downloads with 15k+ patients taking consultation every month. With almost 500 doctors specialises in Dermatology, Gynaecology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Sexology, Weight Management, General Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hair & Scalp care.

Dr Namrata Mishra (MS Gynaecology, Mumbai) says,

“People are still afraid to approach doctors to talk about their gynecological issues. I have seen that mobile consultations help people overcome this problem. In Gynecology, most of the problems can be handled through the app.”
