The advantage of Localwire as compared to other social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter is that its reach is far better as you are connected to locals. It can also be used by businesses and stores to send out messages and notices of sales and local events.
Localwire a Vishakhapatnam based social networking app is developed by Rakesh Polisetty a Software engineer and his team. It helps you to get in touch with all the happenings around your locality and connect with people in that area. Within the radius of 100KM it ensures that every user is aware of all available events, opportunities and deals.
Rakesh Polisetty Co-founder of localwire said
“The idea struck me when I was in Hyderabad. I missed a voter campaign that was held in the street adjacent to the one I was staying in just because I didn’t know of it. When we are not aware of what is happening around us, we miss many important events. This thought led to the birth of Localwire.”
The app was launched on 22nd December 2014. After one year it has reached a target of 7000 download with 14,500 post shared on its platform. With an average of 5k screen views per day it has around 2.8 lakhs views per day. Localwire received the best pitch award at StartAP Fest 2016 that celebrates entrepreneurship in Andhra Pradesh.
Localwire is currently operating in Hyderabad, Bengalore and Vishakhapatnam and is available on both iOS and Android platform. It aims to go global by the end of 2016 by hitting the target of 100k app downloads. Localwires works as your daily newspaper. Users can also post about the happening of their neighborhood by clicking photos.
