Coupndunia an online coupon and cashback firm has launched a last minute hotel booking mobile app Sorted. It competes with online travel sites and travel agents, also including branded budgeted hotel aggregators such as Treebo and Oyo.
Ankita Tandon, COO at Coupondunia said
“Sorted curates a list of 25 hotels based on the best offers we’re getting at our various locations and only showcases this hand-picked list to users.”
Sorted has currently tied up in more than 30 cities with around 30 hotels in each of the city. It works on a commission based revenue based model. With the last minute options feature it helps in filling up the hotels room before they go sold.
Ankita Tandon also said
“To maximise their occupancies, hotels are willing to slash room rates 10-20%, which will be a discount we extend to our customers.”
Sameer Parwarni CEO Coupon duniya said
“What we promise to the consumers is that they need not to have last minute anxiety when it comes to booking hotels. We provide them researched and curated list of 25 best hotels in a city or town. Since we specialize on last minute inventory, the hotel partners offer us deep discounts, which we transfer to our customers.”
Couponduniya changed its branding and shifted to cashback model this month. The internet arm of BCCL, Times Internet which publishes ET, has a majority stake in the company. Existing customer base for Couponduniya will give them a headstart for the Sorted app. The customers will be targeted who are of good value but not brand loyal.
